Solar calculator
Find out what size solar system your home or shop needs: the inverter, the battery and the panels. Then send it to verified installers in your state for quotes. Free, and it takes about a minute.
What do you want to power?
Start from an example, then adjust. "Hours" means hours a day the appliance is on.

How the calculator works
Inverter size (kVA)
We add up the power of your appliances, assume not everything runs at once, add 25% headroom, and check the inverter can handle the extra power that fridges, freezers, pumps and air conditioners draw when they start. Then we round up to a standard size.
Battery storage (kWh)
Solar panels only produce during the day, so the battery has to cover what you use in the evening and at night. We estimate that from your answer to "when do you use most power", and size lithium storage used to 80% of its capacity. We also show the rough equivalent in 12V 220Ah tubular batteries, which are usually only drained to about half.
Solar panels (kW)
We divide your daily energy use by the sun hours in your region (about 4.3 a day in the south, 5 in the middle belt and 5.5 in the north) and allow 25% for losses from heat, dust, cables and charging. The result is shown in kW and as a number of 550W panels.
Why no prices?
OffgridHubNG doesn't sell equipment. Installers choose their own brands and set their own prices, and costs change with the exchange rate. Send your estimate to a few installers and compare their quotes.
